Maury County Firefighters responded to a head on collision with two patients down a 15 foot embankment.

 

Maury County Fire Department released the following information and photos:

"On Thursday, 11/30, MCFD responded to a head on collision on Pulaski Hwy near Valley Creek Rd involving three vehicles.
Responding units: Engines 3, 2, 6, Brush 2, Squad 12, Rescue 1, District Chief 2 & 3, Deputy Chief, and Chief Periut.

Units arrived to find two patients entrapped in a car down a 15 foot embankment. Members used chainsaws to remove several trees. A 3:1 haul system was deployed to bring the patient to the roadway. One patient was flown to a trauma center by Air Evac 9 in critical condition.

Special thanks to bystanders who cleared large pieces of debris from the roadway for apparatus to get closer and a bystander who held lightning throughout the rescue for members.

Special thanks to MCSO, THP, and Maury EMS personnel for conducting the haul operations on the rope system during the rescue.

THP is investigating the accident.
