CHEATHAM COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — Good Samaritans pulled a man from a Lamborghini that caught fire after it crashed at a gas station in Cheatham County Saturday night.
The incident was reported shortly after 6:45 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3, in the 7600 block of Highway 41A in Pleasant View.
Body camera footage and multiple 911 calls indicate how dangerous and chaotic the scene was.
“Hey, we need fire [and] rescue over here,” one 911 caller said.
“Some dude just drove into the gas pumps in a green Lamborghini!” another caller exclaimed. “There’s fire everywhere! People are trying to get him out, trying to slam the windows open!” According to Tennessee Highway Patrol, a 2021 Lamborghini Huracan was traveling east on Highway 41A when it hit a 2016 GMC Sierra that was leaving the Shell station. Then, the Lamborghini reportedly accelerated into the parking lot, hit a curb, slammed into a gas pump, and caught fire.
“A Lamborghini, like, he hit my engine of my truck and went under it, and then just ran straight into the pump,” one motorist reported to 911.
By the time the Cheatham County Sheriff’s Office arrived, the sports car was smoldering and heavily charged, but the blaze was extinguished, based on the bodycam video.Witnesses told law enforcement about the rounds of ammunition they heard going off at the heart of the vehicle fire.
Authorities interviewed two men who witnessed the incident and risked their own safety to open the Lamborghini’s door and pull out the unconscious driver as the flames spread from the back of the engine compartment. One of the witnesses described the driver as “slumped over but leaned back” while the rear of the car was on fire. The 22-year-old Tennessee man who was driving the Lamborghini had cuts to the front and rear of his head, but he was not seriously injured. He told officials the car was rented the day before for a parade.
“I don’t remember anything that happened,” the driver said, referring to the crash. “That’s the bad part.”
The young man told first responders he was thankful for the good Samaritans who may have saved his life by pulling him from the wreckage.
