LAWRENCE COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — A man was injured Tuesday night after lightning struck the ground near him in Lawrence County.
According to Lawrence County dispatch, first responders with the Ethridge Fire Department and Lawrence County Fire & Rescue responded to a call of a man who had possibly been struck by lightning at around 6:20 p.m. near Buffalo Road and Flatwoods Road. An ambulance has remained on the scene.
Dispatch said the lightning strike hit the yard, injuring the man who was standing nearby. The man was numb in his legs, but he was talking when EMS took him to a nearby hospital.
On the same street and after the lightning strike, a tree fell down onto the roof of a house.
At around the same time two miles away on Hudson Road, Lawrence County officials also responded to a report of a corn field that had caught fire due to a lightning strike. Dispatchers told News 2 that as of publication, the fire appears to be contained.
