Lawrence County Sheriff's Department arrested a woman following a traffic stop where drugs, paraphernalia, and a handgun was seized.

Lawrence County Sheriff's Deputy conducted a traffic stop on a Jeep Grand Cherokee, driven by Thomas Buie, after the driver was observed failing to come to a full stop at the intersection of Buffalo Road and Ethridge Redhill Road.

The vehicle slowed down to about 10 mph before continuing through the intersection where the Deputy activated patrol lights and followed the Jeep which eventually stopped at Buffalo Road and Henryville Road.

Buie was found to be operating the vehicle on a suspended license, and a female passenger, Rebecca Lynn McIntyre, was confirmed to have a valid driver’s license.

During the stop, a Ruger handgun was recovered from the driver’s side floorboard which resulted in a consented search of the vehicle led to the discovery of multiple items, including wax paper containing a waxy substance believed to be THC wax, a THC wax kit, a used syringe, two metal spoons with burn marks, a green leafy substance, and a white crystal-like substance later believed to be methamphetamine whereTests later confirmed that one waxy substance was negative for Fentanyl.

McIntyre reportedly attempted to discard evidence by throwing a baggy containing methamphetamine into a field where she was arrested on charges of tampering with evidence, drug paraphernalia possession, and simple possession of controlled substances.

Buie was cited for failing to stop at a stop sign and released to walk to a family member’s home.

McIntyre was transported to the Lawrence County Jail, where she was booked on four warrants, including tampering with evidence, drug paraphernalia, and possession of controlled substances.

All seized items, including the handgun and drug-related evidence, were secured by authorities.
