Lawrenceburg Condemns Old Armory Building After Structural Concerns

The City of Lawrenceburg has officially condemned the old armory building on Jackson Street following months of research, engineering evaluations, and financial analysis.

City officials explored options to preserve the historic structure, including renovation, partial restoration, and repurposing it for community use. However, extensive structural damage and rising repair costs made the project financially unfeasible.

The old armory has long held a place in the community’s history, but leaders determined that renovation costs outweighed the benefits and would not have been a responsible use of taxpayer dollars.

No immediate plans have been made for the property’s future, but city leaders are committed to ensuring the site serves the long-term interests of residents and visitors.
