Inmate Killed At Clifton Tennessee Prison

CLIFTON, Tenn. (WSMV) - An investigation is underway after an inmate died at a Tennessee prison on Wednesday morning, according to CoreCivic.

At about 9:15 a.m. medical staff were called to respond to a medical emergency after an unresponsive inmate was found in his living area at the South Central Correctional Facility in Clifton.

CoreCivic reports medical personnel quickly responded and began lifesaving measures and called for an ambulance. The inmate was taken to the onsite medical unit where he was evaluated by a physician and pronounced dead at 9:32 a.m.

“Our partners at the Tennessee Department of Correction (TDOC) were immediately notified of this incident and the inmate death,” CoreCivic said. “The Office of Investigations and Conduct (OIC) is handling the investigation with the full support of facility leadership.”

CoreCivic did not immediately released details about the inmate’s age or identity.
