Sheffield police name suspect in deadly shooting of 16-year-old at party

SHEFFIELD, Ala. (WHNT) — The Sheffield Police Department has named a suspect in a deadly party shooting on July 24.

SPD got an arrest warrant for 18-year-old Larmarion Nizer Bethany (known as Ghost) for the murder of 16-year-old DeMylah Nixon.

The department says Bethany should be considered armed and dangerous. The public is asked to not approach him if they see him.

Sheffield Police Detective Brett Evans said the 16-year-old was at a party when she was shot. Upon arrival, officers said they found the teenage girl lying in the grass with a gunshot wound between her shoulder blades.

Detectives said they believed the girl was not the intended target.

Sheffield Police Chief Ricky Terry said if you have any information about his whereabouts to contact SPD or a local law enforcement agency.
