Subject: MVA Response

At approximately 2:39 PM today LCFR was notified by Lawrence County E-911 of a motor vehicle crash in the West End fire district with significant injuries, and one patient entrapped.
An immediate response was initiated by Lawrence County Fire Rescue units. Rescue 2 arrived on scene and confirmed a two vehicle crash with four total patients including one pediatric patient.
In one of the vehicles our personnel found an adult patient with critical injuries that was heavily pinned upside down in the vehicle that had rolled during the crash. Our personnel utilized hydraulic rescue tools to free the patient from the vehicle while Lawrence County EMS personnel provided patient care. After being freed from the vehicle the patient was transported by Air Evac Lifeteam to a Trauma Center.
Simultaneously Lawrence County EMS was providing patient care to the 3 patients from the second vehicle involved in the crash. Two patients from that vehicle were transported by ground to Southern Tennessee Hospital in Lawrenceburg with non critical injuries.
Lawrence County Fire Rescue units have recently responded to several motor vehicle crashes with serious injuries, and entrapments. We encourage everyone to wear your seat belts, and drive safely.
