5-year-old child drowns on Percy Priest Lake in Nashville

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A 5-year-old child drowned Tuesday night on Percy Priest Lake in Nashville, according to officials.

Officers were called to the Hamilton Creek Recreation Center on Bell Road at approximately 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Metro Police said Tobias Henock was swimming with family when he went underwater for several minutes. Witnesses reportedly told officers Tobias was missing for several minutes before he was found in the water by his father.

Family members performed CPR until officers arrived and transported the child to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased.

Officials said the drowning appears to be accidental.
