City of St. Joseph Takes Action Following Citizen Complaints on Shelton Drive
ST. JOSEPH, Tenn.

— Acting on numerous citizen complaints, the City of St. Joseph condemned several temporary structures located at 180 Shelton Drive that had become a known gathering place for trespassing, loitering, and suspected illegal activity.

The city’s action also followed concerns that individuals at the location were taking advantage of an elderly property owner and continuing to gather on the property despite the ongoing concerns of nearby residents.

While addressing the location, officers discovered drug paraphernalia on one individual, who was later transported to the Lawrence County Jail. All other individuals present at the location were trespassed from the property and advised that returning to the area could result in arrest.

The City of St. Joseph wants to make clear that ongoing loitering, trespassing, and unlawful activity within the city will not be tolerated. Residents deserve to feel safe in their neighborhoods, on their streets, and around their homes.

This action is another positive step forward through Operation First Impression, the city’s ongoing effort to clean up St. Joseph, address problem areas, improve quality of life, and make the community safer for everyone.
The City encourages residents to continue reporting suspicious activity, unsafe conditions, or anything that does not seem right.
If you see something, say something. We are here to serve you.
