Rogersville Police, other agencies searching for shooting suspect after fleeing standoff

ROGERSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — The Rogersville Police Department (RPD) and other Lauderdale County agencies are searching for a shooting suspect who authorities say fled Thursday after a standoff.

According to RPD Chief Brian Hudson, officers responded to a call about a domestic dispute which had allegedly turned violent.

A man had been shot on the right side of his face, but according to Hudson, he is expected to recover. The call came in from the area of County Road 70 and County Road 562 at about 5:07 p.m.

Chief Hudson said the suspect, James Daniel Tucker, 49, ran away from the scene and hid in a nearby home.

Authorities sent a robot into the home to search for Tucker, but could not find him. The chief says that warrants for his arrest are being issued.

Lauderdale County Sheriff Joe Hamilton said Lauderdale County Sheriff’s deputies and the Florence-Lauderdale SWAT team are assisting.

Chief Hudson says that if anyone sees Tucker, or believes he might be in the area, to please call 911 and notify police. It is believed that he is still armed and considered dangerous.
