HENRY COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — Cleanup efforts are underway after a fire at a plastic manufacturing facility in Henry County continued to burn overnight.
The Henry County Emergency Management Agency said Friday, May 8, at 11:50 a.m., firefighters were called to a “major structure fire” at Sigma Renew 360 in Henry, which manufactures plastic polyethylene pellets.
The facility was ruled a total loss, but crews continued working through the afternoon and overnight to extinguish the remaining flames. Several West Tennessee fire agencies were called to assist with transporting water to the facility.
Officials warned that smoke from the facility would continue to cause air quality issues for approximately 24 hours.
Saturday, May 9, Henry County EMA announced the fire was fully extinguished. Officials said more than 20 out-of-county agencies assisted with the fire response, including state agencies and the Air National Guard.
An environmental cleanup company is working to control water runoff from the fire response, officials said.The cause of the fire remains under investigation. No additional information was released.
