Subject: Tractor Fire

Lawrence County Fire Rescue units responded to a report of a large tractor on fire in the West End fire district. Our personnel arrived quickly to find the tractor to be approximately 75% involved. Firefighters were able to stop the progress of the fire and prevent damage to the large planter being pulled by the tractor. The driver of the tractor was able to escape without injury.

Agriculture is the number 1 economic producer in Lawrence County. Our farmers invest heavily in our community. They assist us anytime that we ask for help. Although the tractor was a total loss, we were glad to be able to help save the planter.

The quick response to this incident is just another testimony to the supplemental day time staffing being able to respond to incidents immediately when we would otherwise be dangerously short staffed.
