LAWRENCEBURG, Tenn. (WSMV) - Update: The Lawrence County Fire Department reported that the severe weather that moved through the region overnight left 10 residential structures damaged.
Additionally, one commercial building sustained storm-related damage.
Remarkably, no residents reported any significant injuries. One family’s house was leveled, but they were able to ride out the storm in an underground bunker, according to Lawrence County Fire.
Several hundred trees are reported down in southeast Lawrence County, which is where the storm left the most damage, according to fire personnel.Earlier: The Lawrence County Emergency Management Agency reported that a major cleanup operation is underway in the Bonnertown area following Sunday’s severe storms.
The EMA says multiple homes were severely damaged or destroyed in the storms.
Some minor injuries have been reported in the county. The person who was trapped under a tree was not injured, the EMA said.The EMA reports that a tornado is believed to have touched down in the Bonnertown area, but that will not be confirmed until the National Weather Service conducts a damage survey in the area on Monday.At least one structure is confirmed to be damaged, with more possible.
The EMA also confirmed that at least one person was reportedly trapped underneath a tree. Crews are unsure of their status at this time.
All fire personnel have been called in with a command post set up at the Southeast Fire Hall.
