LEWISBURG, Tenn. (WKRN) — Two people died Thursday morning after a fire broke out at a home in Lewisburg, officials said.
According to the Lewisburg Police Department, several agencies—including the Lewisburg Fire Department, Marshall County EMS, and Marshall County OEM—responded to a fire that was reported just before 3:30 a.m. at a home in the 1400 block of Troy Drive.
When authorities arrived, they reportedly observed the home fully engulfed in flames, adding it was determined four people were inside the residence.
One person in the home was able to self-evacuate, while another was rescued through a window by a neighbor before emergency personnel arrived, per Lewisburg police. Both occupants were taken to the hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.
Despite extensive rescue efforts, two people inside the home died in the fire, officials said.
It remains unclear what caused the deadly blaze, but the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and investigators with the LPD are reportedly examining the circumstances surrounding the deadly incident.
“The Lewisburg Police Department and Lewisburg Fire Department extend their thoughts and condolences to the family and loved ones affected by this tragic event,” the LPD wrote in a release.
No additional information was immediately released.
