Today has been a busy day for Lawrence County Fire Rescue members.

2/20/2026

At approximately 1:30 this afternoon our units were dispatched to a reported structure fire in the West Point Fire District. Our personnel arrived to find a 2-3 acre brush fire that had extended to a detached garage, and a mobile home.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the detached garage and the mobile home before they began work on extinguishing the brush fire. Personnel from multiple LCFR stations responded to the scene to assist.

While our personnel were on the scene of the structure fire we were dispatched to a reported brush fire in the Leoma Fire District.

Our units arrived on scene to find a brush fire in a wooded area that covered approximately 2 acres of steep terrain. First arriving units requested additional LCFR units due to the fire being inaccessible with brush trucks and other fire apparatus.

Personnel utilized fire rakes, back pack blowers, and portable water extinguishers to bring the fire under control.
