Investigation


On February 18, 2026 at approximately 2:55PM the Muscle Police Department was notified of a Bomb Threat at Muscle Shoals Middle School. The threat was called in directly to Colbert County 911 and transferred to the Muscle Shoals Police Department.
The Muscle Shoals Police Department, along with Muscle Shoals Fire and EMS promptly responded to Muscle Shoals Middle School. Along with Muscle Shoals City School Administrators and Staff, evacuation of the school began immediately in a safe and timely manner. The school was searched by MSPD Personnel and determined to be safe.
During this same time period, Muscle Shoals Police Department Detectives were working to trace the phone call placed to Colbert County 911 and was able to determine the call was made from inside the city of Muscle Shoals and done so by juvenile students. Due to these findings and the search of Muscle Shoals Middle School being cleared, the Muscle Shoals Police Department determined the threat to not be credible after quickly conducting interviews with juvenile students and their parents.
Although the threat was deemed not credible, the Muscle Shoals Police Department still considers the matter under investigation as interviews with parents and juveniles are still taking place.
The Muscle Shoals Police Department understands the stress a situation of this nature can place on parents, students and school staff, alike. We greatly appreciate the cooperation of all these parents, students and school staff present during this incident. This is a serious matter and will be dealt with a such. MSPD appreciates the quick transfer of information from Colbert County 911 in this matter.
