Maury County Fire Department responded to grass fires.

Over the weekend and through today MCFD has responded to numerous grass fires. Most fires have been controlled burns that have gotten out of hand due to wind gusts along with one fire caused by a blown transformer.

Fires have been located on Culleoka Hwy, East Sheepneck Rd, Pulaski Hwy, Mooresville Pike, Lasea Rd.

A State Forestry bulldozer was requested to cut a fire line for the fire on N Lasea Rd today.

Please use caution while burning and have a good perimeter created. Burn permits can be obtained for areas outside the city limits at burnsafetn.org
