Child who fell into swimming pool in Lincoln County dies

LINCOLN COUNTY, Tenn. (WHNT) – A 5-year-old child who fell into a swimming pool last week has died, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.

The child passed away early Friday, the sheriff’s office said.

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office said the child fell into a swimming pool in the southern part of the county last Thursday and was taken to a nearby hospital.

“The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office extends its deepest condolences to the family during this unimaginable loss,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement. “We respectfully ask the community to keep the family in your thoughts and prayers as they navigate this extremely difficult time.”

The child who died has not been identified. The incident remains “under review” according to the sheriff’s office.
