TBI investigating deadly shooting involving ranger at Natchez Trace State Park

HENDERSON COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — An investigation is underway after a Tennessee park ranger reportedly shot and killed a man accused of driving a stolen state vehicle toward law enforcement Friday night.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said 26th Judicial District Attorney General Jody Pickens asked special agents to investigate the circumstances surrounding the ranger-involved shooting at Natchez Trace State Park.

Authorities said the situation escalated when Kondor tried to drive another stolen state vehicle toward them, causing a ranger to fire at the vehicle, hitting Kondor. The 26-year-old died at the scene, but no law enforcement officers were injured in the incident.

“TBI agents are working to independently determine the series of events leading to the shooting, including collecting evidence and conducting interviews. Throughout the process, investigative findings will be shared with the District Attorney General for his further review and consideration,” the bureau said in a statement on Saturday, Jan. 10. “The TBI acts solely as fact-finders in its cases and does not determine whether the actions of an officer were justified in these types of matters. That decision rests with the District Attorney General requesting TBI’s involvement.”No additional details have been released about this incident.
