Interstate crash claims life of local man

An interstate crash that occurred Sunday claimed two lives, including that of a Lawrenceburg man. According to information released by the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at around 1:00 p.m. on Interstate 65 in Maury County.

They report that a 2005 Honda Accord carrying four individuals left the roadway, crashed into a wooded area, rolled down an embankment, then struck a tree. A person ejected from the vehicle perished at the scene.

The remaining three persons were trapped inside the car and were extricated by members of the Maury County Fire Department.

One of the occupants later succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash. The two deceased were identified as Jason A. Watson of Lawrenceburg and Sondra Springer of Lexington, Alabama.

The driver, identified as Lawrenceburg resident Talia Hensley, and remaining passenger, Shannon Alexander, also of Lawrenceburg, sustained serious injuries and were transported for medical attention. The crash remains under investigation at the current time.
