Congratulations to the members of the Lawrence County High School Band! 

On Thursday, March 7, 2024, they gave a perfectly splendid musical performance at the 85th Annual Middle Tennessee School Band and Orchestra Association Concert and Sight Reading Performance Assessment on the campus of Middle Tennessee State University.

The band received Superior ratings from all three judges for their concert performance and a superior rating in sight reading performance.  The band performed for some of the top music educators around such as Mr. Brad Rogers from the University of Louisville in Louisville KY, Dr. Kelvin Jones from the University of Louisiana-Lafayette in Lafayette, LA, Mr. Zachary Harris from William Carey University in Hattiesburg, MS and Mr. Rick Murphy retired band director from Tennessee and Mississippi. 

This is the first time in 10 years that the Lawrence County Band has earned superior ratings.  The band also won the Tennessee Bandmasters Association Sweepstakes Award.  This is the first sweepstakes award for the band program since 2001.   “I am so proud of these kids.  They worked hard preparing for this event and did their very best.  The band represented our school and community with the utmost professionalism,” stated Darrell Boston, band director.
