Attempted burglaries reported in the early hours two separate mornings
Lawrenceburg Now
Lawrenceburg Police officers were dispatched to investigate in the early hours two separate mornings last week when residents of Deller Street were awakened by someone attempting to gain entry to their homes.
Officers responded to the first incident just after 8:00 a.m. Wednesday. The resident reported that, at around 5:00 a.m., her son had alerted her to the burglary attempt.
He told her that he had been awakened by the sound of someone trying to gain entry through a rear bedroom window. She said that her neighbor had called, as well, to tell her that there was someone at the rear of her home.
Officers reported finding no obvious sign of forced entry, and entry was not made to the home.
In the second incident, officers responded to a nearby home at approximately 4:30 Thursday morning. There, the victims reported that someone had been “banging on the side door” loud enough to awaken them.
The male resident said he was walking toward the back door to check it out when he heard a loud crashing sound. He said he ran outside in time to see a sliver SUV leaving the scene.
He told officers that he chased the vehicle for a time, but was unable to obtain any further information.
The victim returned to his home to find that a living room window had been busted out with a rock. Damages were estimated to be $1,300.
At the present time both incidents remain under investigation. Anyone with information should contact the police department at 931-762-1726.
