Arrest is made after woman is punched in the face at ER
Lawrenceburg Now
A local man was arrested Sunday afternoon after he allegedly punched his girlfriend in the face while at the emergency room.
Reports filed through the Lawrenceburg Police Department show that an officer was summoned to the emergency room at Southern Tennessee Regional Health Systems shortly after 4:00 p.m.
He spoke with the twenty year old victim who reported that she and her boyfriend had been arguing earlier while in the parking lot inside her car. She said the argument became heated and her boyfriend threw her cell phone, cracking her windshield.
The victim reported that she went into the emergency room to get away from her boyfriend, but that he followed her inside. She said he began to yell at her then punched her in the face, striking her on the left jaw. The officer noted redness in the area where the victim claimed to have been hit.
The boyfriend, identified as thirty year old Cody Brent Huntley of 182 Revilo Road, Leoma, denied having struck the victim. He said that they had argued, but denied any physical altercation.
A witness inside the emergency room also spoke with the officer. The witness reported seeing a man punch a woman in the waiting room. The description given by the witness, the reporting officer noted, perfectly matched that of the victim and Huntley.
Huntley was placed under arrest and transported to the Lawrence County Detention Center. He was booked under one count of domestic assault and one count of domestic vandalism and incarcerated under a $4,000 bond. He has been scheduled an initial appearance in General Sessions Court on December 11, 2017.
