National temperature controlled logistics company to invest $4.5 million, create 45 jobs in Lawrenceburg

Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce President & CEO Ethan Hadley and H&M Bay, Inc. announced today that the company will establish its eighth cold storage consolidation center in Lawrenceburg. H&M Bay plans to invest $4.5 million and create 10 full-time, 35 part-time jobs in Lawrence County over the next five years.

H&M Bay is an excellent addition to our community and we are grateful that this investment brings several new opportunities for the people of Lawrence County.”

H&M Bay will locate operations in the Team Lawrence Commerce Park, a Select Tennessee Certified Site. The company will build a 51,000 SF facility that will be operational in the second quarter of 2019.

Founded in 1982, H&M Bay has built a reputation as the country’s premier logistics provider for LTL frozen and refrigerated commodities.  Headquartered in Federalsburg, Maryland, H&M Bay also has operations in Massachusetts, North Carolina, Florida, Texas, Indiana, California, and Washington.

“The addition of a new consolidation center and cold storage facility in central Tennessee will help us grow our current operational footprint and expand our service capabilities,” explained Walt Messick, Chief Operations Officer of H&M Bay, Inc.  “We are excited that we have found a home in Lawrence County, and look forward to commencing operations in 2019.”

Local officials applauded H&M Bay for its investment in Lawrenceburg. “This is an exciting time in Lawrenceburg,” Lawrenceburg Mayor Keith Durham said. “This operation is an excellent addition to our community as we continue to establish ourselves as a commercial hub of retail, manufacturing, and logistics. I am proud to welcome another quality company and more quality jobs to Lawrenceburg.”

Launched in 2012, TNECD’s Select Tennessee Certified Sites program helps communities prepare industrial sites for private investment and job creation. To date, businesses have committed to invest more than $1.5 billion and create 6,600 jobs across 16 projects on Select Tennessee Certified Sites. 

Lawrenceburg and Lawrence County are represented by Sen. Joey Hensley (R – Hohenwald), Rep. David Byrd (R – Waynesboro) and Rep. Barry Doss (R – Leoma) in the Tennessee General Assembly.
