Investigation is underway in recent thefts

Authorities have been asked to look into several theft incidents that have been reported by residents of Lawrence County in recent days.
  
Reports filed through the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department show that deputies were dispatched to a home on Buffalo Road where the resident reported a firearm had been stolen. She said that her .308 Remington deer rifle, with a black synthetic stock and scope, had been stolen. She estimated its value at $1,050.
  
Deputies were called to a Summertown home regarding the theft of a weed eater. The residents said they left it on the front porch when they went on vacation and that it was gone when they returned. The weed eater was an Echo brand valued at more than $360.
  
A Lentz Road resident reported that someone had entered a shed on his property and stole his Rigid brand 600 watt generator. He estimated the generator’s value to be $1,000.  
  
In another incident, deputies spoke with a resident of Scenic Road about a stolen rental car. She reported that she had rented the Nissan Rogue from Enterprise rental cars. She had fallen asleep inside her house and when she awakened she got ready for work.

When she went outside the resident discovered that the car had been stolen. She said it had a value of $24,000. Items inside the stolen car included her debit card, her father’s EBT card, and $700 in cash.
