Thieves target local homes

Thieves have targeted several local homes in recent days, causing considerable losses for the residents.
  
Lawrenceburg Police officers answered a call to 615 North Military Avenue on Thursday. The resident reported he had returned to his home the previous day to find that his 42” Husqvarna riding mower was missing. He said he had initially believed his son had borrowed it, but after speaking with him determined it had been stolen. It was valued at $1,500.
  
Lawrence County Sheriff’s deputies were called to assist Loretto officials when a Cherokee Hill Drive resident reported his 2004 Polaris four wheeler had been stolen. The person responsible had pried open the garage door and had broken several items inside while committing the crime. The four wheeler had a value of $4,500.
  
Police officers also answered a call to a home on Third Street Thursday. The resident said that someone had stolen the rear tire and wheel off of his Craftsman brand riding mower sometime during the previous night. Also missing was one LG window air conditioner that had been stored beneath the carport. Loss in the case was around $175.
