Call about man sleeping in parked vehicle results in drug arrest

Lawrenceburg Now

Lawrenceburg Police officers answered a call about a man who was asleep behind the wheel Monday, resulting in the man being arrested on drug charges.

Officers answered a call to a location on Third Avenue, between Fifth and Sixth Streets. They found a man asleep behind the wheel of a Chevy Trailblazer with a woman sleeping in the passenger seat. The man was startled when the officer knocked on his window and tried to put the vehicle in drive and leave. He was unable to do so because the engine was off.

The officer asked the driver to get out of the vehicle and noticed there was a box near his feet in the floorboard. After getting permission to look inside, the officer found that the box contained two sets of scales and a smaller box. Inside the smaller box there were three pills that were later identified as being Lorazepam.

The incident resulted in the driver, Matthew Aaron Gang, age 23, of 1148 Bridge Water Way, being arrested on one count of possession of a schedule IV drug and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond was set at $4,000.
Gang is scheduled to answer the charges in General Sessions court on August 3.
