Grand jury will hear evidence in Ferguson murder
During a preliminary hearing held in Davidson County Thursday morning a judge determined that there was enough evidence in the Tiffany Ferguson murder case to warrant inspection by a grand jury.
Christopher Drew McLawhorn, 23, is charged with criminal homicide and especially aggravated burglary in the February 28 stabbing death of Ferguson, a native of Loretto, inside her Nashville apartment.
During Thursday’s court proceedings witnesses testified that Ferguson was stabbed at least six times after she awakened while McLawhorn was burglarizing her home. A knife consistent with the crime was missing from her apartment. Detectives testified that a laptop and kitchen knife bearing what ultimately proved to be Ferguson’s blood, were found outdoors a short distance from the home.
McLawhorn remains incarcerated under a $750,000 bond.
