Arrestee suspected of dropping drugs in parking lot of West Lawrence business
Lawrenceburg Now
An individual arrested on drug charges Sunday is believed to be one of the people who dropped drugs that were found in a parking lot at a West Lawrence business.
According to reports filed through the Lawrence County Sheriff's Department, deputies were summoned by management to Dollar General Store located at 15 Scenic Road. The manager reported that as she was opening that morning there had been two suspicious vehicles in the parking lot.
The manager was able to identify one of the drivers and provide a license plate number from the second vehicle. She said that once the drivers pulled out of the parking lot, she went out to inspect the area and found a clear plastic baggie that contained 3.7 ounces of a crystal substance identified as methamphetamine. She said that she immediately placed a 911 call to request that deputies investigate.
Later that day the same deputy initiated a traffic stop involving the man named as a suspect in the earlier incident. He was identified as Jeremy Fisher of 30 Bryant Road. Because the car matched the description of one of the suspect vehicles and the named suspect was inside, a search of the vehicle ensued. Deputies found 1.3 grams of meth along with a light bulb used to smoke meth and a straw bearing meth residue.
As a result of the discovery, Fisher was arrested along with driver Melissa Hall, 36, of 365 Turnpike. Both were charged with possession of meth and possession of drug paraphernalia.
A juvenile was inside the vehicle at the time of the stop. She told them the pair was giving her a ride to her parent's home. She was released into the custody of her parents.
