When do we get to act our age?

When we are children we are constantly being told we are old enough to know better! How old is old enough? Is it 5 or 6 maybe after we are in school?

When I was in the third grade, I hated school and my teacher! She was so old she had taught my Father.

I was constantly being compared to my "genius" father! Well anyway, due do this crotchety old women, and maybe a little bit of my own distaste for school, I played sick every day!

I know I didn't have my parent's fooled, though I thought I did, I was able to miss my fair number of days from school.

Mostly being able to fool my daddy! ha ha daddy, bet you didn't know that! Back to the story. One of these days of being sick, I skipped my little butt into my grandmother's house for her to care for me while my parents worked.

On that day I took something belonging to my grandparents and I had to know it was wrong because I hid it. To this day I can't tell you why I did it, but I know I was old enough to know better!

Was I acting my age? No! Thieves come in all ages, races, and genders. Now a few years down the road a friend of mine and me, don't worry Karen I won't mention your name, thought we were cool.

During that era a two year old could buy cigarettes if they had the money and could say, a pack of L&M's please. So this "anonymous" friend and I were cool and would sneak and smoke till we turned green. Did we act our age?

We were certainly by the states standards old enough to buy cigerettes. I think the correct answer here is we thought we were cool by trying to act older than we were.

So when are you old enough to smoke? That's definetly a personal opinion, one in which I say never!,Now we come into the fabulous eighties! I have become a Mother of three by now!

I still loved the same music in the eighties as I did as a teen. I grew with it. Now I'm told I'm to old to like this type of music and I should act my own age and listen to country music!

Nothing personal about country music I just never perferred it.,You get told your hair stlye is to young for you or your clothes are to old or to young an only kids like those movies!

I think I'm going to scream! Sure I agree lots of things should be age appropriate. However, if I like girly things and fancy clothes, high heeled shoes, and all the glitz and glamour this old body can take, then don't tell me I'm to old!

If I complain about my bones aching or grey hair don't tell me I'm not old enough! So now I have this to say! I am 51 years young, and I am old enough to do whatever I feel like doing when I feel like doing it. I dare you to tell me different, cause I will slap you so hard your head will spin! And yes, I am old enough!
