America, the election is over. The Republicans saw massive gains in the House, and almost took the Senate.
There's a resounding message in all of this: the American people want change from the past two years. However, it's not as cut and dried as you would think.
There are good folks in the Democrat party across this nation. There are good folks in the Republican party across this nation. There are good folks that consider themselves independent across this nation.
What the American people were saying isn't as much that they want the Republicans instead of the Democrats, it's that they want a return to traditional, conservative, morally upright government. Regardless of which party is in control, folks don't want the liberal, anti-American agenda that has plagued our nation for the past two years.
On the other hand, we do need some changes in our nation. Healthcare reform is necessary, but not the version we saw pass earlier this year. We do need tort reform, and we do need to extend the Bush-era tax cuts.
We also need to make illegal immigration a priority. The real drain on our resources comes not from America's poor, but from illegal immigrants who are getting help they are not entitled to.
We need to get a handle on the terrorist threat and face the truth: Islam is a radical religion, regardless of what those who practice it tell you, and their goal is to kill and remove any individuals who stand in their way of imposing Islamic law. We need to call it what it is: the war on terror, based in Islamic law.
America has strayed too far from God, and we're being punished. We're paying a price for what we've done, and until we figure out the only way to true reform is through the righteousness of God, we're going to continue to see our nation's problems exacerbated, regardless of which party is in control. |
