The previous article that I wrote has generated some interesting feedback on the message board. Some has been positive, some has been negative. So goes the nature of politics.
When taking the post of chairman, my intent was to do several things.
First, I want to represent the party in a Godly, upright manner. My views are supported in whole by the Holy Bible and God's word. Nothing I've said as chairman has been anything else.
Secondly, I wanted to help make a difference in my community.
Third, I feel that we need to elect Godly, Christian men and women in this great county of ours. I feel that I can have an influence on that aspect of the election process.
I enjoy living here in Lawrence County. We have a lot of potential, and we have the ability to move forward and make our county a better place to live.
One of the remarks on the website message board was that my letter was mean and harsh. I re-read it, and I don't see the harshness or meanness of the letter. I simply stated some facts that may be too hard for some to swallow. I guess I stepped on some toes, and that's a good thing. It people to talk and think, and discuss issues.
We do need to re-think things on a local level. We need to look for more ways to cut expenses during these trying economic times. We've spent, spent spent in recent years, and we need to find ways to save some of the money we're pouring out.
One of the things wrong with our nation, and I've addressed this in the pulpit a lot lately, is that we as a country have turned so much from God. We need to return to a Godly way of living, as we once did, and ask God to guide us through this mess we've gotten ourselves into.
When it boils down to it, yes, I'm a Republican. However, we have Democrats and Republicans representing us, and we need to reach across the aisle and find amicable solutions to the problems that face all of us as Americans and Lawrence Countians.
