Second Boat Safety Class Being Offered At TWRA’s Region II Office
Boating Officer Allen Herald will head a boating education class on Friday, July 16th beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency’s Region II Office in south Nashville.
This is the second class that Herald has offered, with the first drawing 45 participants. Herald, a long-time officer for the TWRA, will administer a 60-question test once classroom lessons end. The class should be concluded about 9 p.m.
Anyone born after Jan. 1, 1989 and who is at least 11 years old must pass the boating education test in order to pilot a boat in Tennessee, according to the TWRA.
Courses are not mandated, but classrooms are among choices future boaters have to learn rules, regulations, and safety needs for boating.
The July 16thth class requires a $10 safety exam permit (type 600) that can be purchased at any businesses that sells hunting and fishing licenses. The Region II headquarters sells the exam permit; however, the sales office closes by 4:30 p.m.
