Gifted Education students from Ethridge, Summertown, Crockett and New Prospect Elementary Schools gathered for a World’s Fair Tuesday, December 16th at the WLX Country Café.
The fair was the culmination of a semester long study of different countries.
Mrs. Stephani Wright taught lessons about one country each week, incorporating art, music, math, writing and science.
Students selected a country to research further for their project. Each display included information about the language, environment, religion, holidays, food, economy, government or education and a biography of a famous citizen from the country.
Students attending the World’s Fair brought artifacts from their country, food items and wore costumes for extra credit.
“Doing an event like this gives the students an audience and makes the project more
meaningful,” said Wright. Students learned a lot about conducting research on the internet, citing their sources and how to incorporate pictures in a word document.
“I’m very proud of all my students’ hard work, and I appreciate the support of their parents and teachers.”
Middle school students created an ABC book about their country, and these were also on display at the World’s Fair.
