She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Roena Ezell Skillan, her husband, Leon Dodd, one son, Jerry Wayne Hill, two brothers, James Skillian and Boyd Skillian, and two sisters, Ruby Skillian and Mary Walters.

Paris Arnold Rogers, 91 of Killen, Alabama passed away August 27, 2014 at his home of an extended illness.  Mr. Rogers was a retired electrician and farmer and a member of I.B.E. W. 558 since November 1945.  He was also a Methodist and a United States Army Veteran of World War II.

Lola Pearl Hill Richardson, 81 passed away Friday, August 22 at the home of her son after an extended illness.   She was a retired nurse’s aide, having worked at Lauderdale Christian Nursing Home for almost 20 years.  She was born July 27, 1933 near St. Joseph, TN., and lived most of her life in the Greenhill, Alabama community.   She and her husband had moved to Sheffield, AL., in recent years.

She was a faithful member of Center Hill Church of Christ for over 30 years, then attended Westside Church of Christ in Sheffield after relocating.  She enjoyed gardening and especially working in her many flower beds, and spending time with her family.  She was preceded in death by her parents, John Henry and Madgie Hill, one daughter, Rebecca Denise Richardson, two brothers, Quincy Hill and Hollan Hill and one sister Shelby Hill Blackburn.

Clara Earline Clemmons Stutts, a lifelong resident of Lauderdale County, passed away Monday, August 18, 2014 at Lauderdale Christian Nursing Home.  She was born, March 20, 1926 to Emmitt and Mae Clemmons.  She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Mabron Hensley Stutts; her parents; three brothers, Percy, Porter, and twin brother Early; and sister, Katherine Truitt.

Services will be held Thursday, August 21, 2014 at Greenhill Funeral Home at 11:30am with Bro. Gregg Woodard officiating.  Burial will be in Milner’s Chapel Cemetery following the service.  Visitation will be at 10:30am Thursday at the funeral home.

Hours spent quilting and crocheting produced countless keepsakes for her family.  She spent 15 + years enjoying the Greenhill Senior Center, where she spent many hours enjoying delightful fellowship and games of Rook.  Dominoes were her joy where she always amazed her family with her lightning fast totals.  But her greatest joy came from watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Patricia Ann Knapp, age 67, of Thebes, Illinois died Monday, August 4, 2014 at her home.  She was born on November 7, 1946 in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee to Mitchell and Agnes Durham Lanier.  She spent her childhood residing in Summertown, TN.

Pat loved antiques.  She collected, worked on and sold them for many years.  She enjoyed spending time with her family and was an avid bird watcher.  Her favorite times were spent at the beach and at her home on Wilson Lake in Alabama.

Connie Hollman, age 80 of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at Alive Hospice at Saint Thomas West in Nashville, TN.  She was a native of Lawrence County, TN., retired educator for Lawrence County School System and a ember fo Sacred heart Catholic Church of Lawrenceburg.  She was also a member of the Retired Teachers Association, past President of the Pilot Club, board member of God’s Store House and Blue Grass Regional Library, past sponsor of the LCHS Anchor Club and a Paul Harris Fellow.

She was preceded in death by her parents, H.A. “Boss” and Alice Litchfield Hollander; her husband, J.W. Hollman; and two brothers, Pete Hollander and Buddy Hollander.

Charles Herman Howell

Charles Herman Howell, age 73, of Lawrenceburg passed away July 20, 2014 following an extended battle with cancer, culminating in a large brain tumor which was removed earlier this year.

He was a native of Giles County, retired from Murray Ohio after 45 years of service and was an avid woodworker.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Barbara Jean Davis Howell.

Gladys Christine Hardeman, age 83 of Killen, Alabama passed away June 24, 2014 after an extended illness.  Mrs. Hardeman was a homemaker, a switch board operator for Southern Bell Telephone Company of Florence for Several years, a 1949 graduate of Lexington High School, and a life member of Antioch Church of Christ.

Charles Forrest McGee

Charles Forrest “C.F.” McGee, 85, passed away June 14, 2014 at his home in Lawrenceburg, TN.  He was born July 30, 1928 in Westpoint, Tenn.  C.F. graduated from Loretto High School and served in the Army during the Korean Conflict.  He married Mary Katherine Moore and celebrated 63 years of marriage last year.  For thirty years he worked for Murray Ohio Manufacturing. He was a member of the Junior Chamber of Commerce, where he served as national director and was also named Jaycee’s Young Man of the Year in 1968.  C.F. loved his community and was active in local politics.  He served as Commissioner of Safety for the city of Lawrenceburg from 1985 to 1993.  He was a member of First Street Church of Christ.  He loved to walk, often to frequent Square Forty or Ledbetter’s Drug Store, where he was known for his lively stories of life in Lawrence County.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Elizabeth McGee Gwinn and Edward Carnell McGee.

Mary Parrino

Mary Parrino, beloved wife of the late Frank and longtime resident of Lawrenceburg, passed away peacefully at Anna Maria of Aurora Nursing Home on March 21, 2014.  She was the daughter of Salvatore and Antonia Arrigo and was born in Cleveland, Ohio on May 22, 1917.  After her move back to Ohio, her nieces, Vincetta, Donna, Diane and Pamela looked after Mary for the last eight years of her life.  Another niece, Carole resides in Indiana and was a frequent visitor.  Mary was an aunt and great aunt to 23.

Mary was cared for by Crossroads Hospice for the last fourteen months of her life.  Her family had a funeral Mass celebrated for her at Church of the Resurrection in Solon, Ohio followed by a luncheon reception for family and friends.

Mary will be missed by her family who hold her memory dear as well as the caregivers at Anna Maria who grew very fond of her.  Her sister, Rose survives her at 101 years and is the last of their six siblings.

A graveside memorial will be celebrated for Mary at Calvary Cemetery in Lawrenceburg on June 17, 2014 at 10:30am officiated by Father Joseph Mundakal.

Phil Wilson, age 76 of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at his residence.  He was a native of Lawrence County, TN., owner of Liberty Drug Store and Richland Inn and a member of Pulaski Street Church of Christ.  Mr. Wilson also served with the Tennessee Army National Guard.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Vera Williams Wilson; and one son, Gregory Philip Wilson.

Rev. William E. Cagle, Jr.

Rev. William E. Cagle, Jr. of Florence, Alabama was born April 22, 1929 to the late William E. Cagle, Sr. and Ethel Sharp Cagle.  Mr. Cagle departed this life and entered the gates of heaven on June 10, 2014.  Mr. Cagle was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Nellie Cagle; two daughters, Teresa Hayes and Diane Holden; four sisters Francis, Fayna, Beactrice and Evelyn; one brother, Llooyd Cagle; and a daughter in law, Rhonda Young.

Fifteen Grandchildren, Christy, Brad, Jessica, Jeremy, Heather, Jennifer, Jamie, Ladonna, Jason, Kirk, Craig, Blair, Michael, Danielle, and Catherine Hill.  Mr. Cagle has 18 great grandchildren.

Mr. Cagle was a Navy Veteran having served a brief time at Pearl Harbor.  He then came home and trained as a machine welder and retired from TVA after 32 years of service thru Shop #2.

Mr. Cagle devoted his life to Christ in 1961 and began preaching, pasturing, singing and teaching the Word of God wherever God lead him.  He loved to tell people of what Jesus had done for him.  His prayer was always ended with “Save the Lost’. Amen.  Mr. Cagle enjoyed Alabama Football and Braves Baseball and Newbern’s Restaurant was his favorite catfish fix.  Most of all Mr. Cagle loved his family and cared for each and every one of them and prayed for all daily.

Visitation will be Thursday, June 12, 2014 from 6pm to 8pm at Greenhill Funeral Home.  The funeral will be Friday, June 13 at 12pm with Bro. Roger Reed officiating along with Pastor Bill Davis and Charlie Curtis.

David Ray Burbank, age 72 of Rogersville, passed away June 2, 2014 at ECM Hospital in Florence.  He was retired from TVA Brown’s Ferry.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the Vietnam War in 1968 – 1969, a Baptist and member of Labor Local 366.

Gerald A. French age 95, of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee passed away Monday, June 2, 2014 at Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia, TN.  He was a native of Lawrence County, TN., retired from Murray Ohio, founding member of the New Prospect Fire Department, and a member of New Prospect United Methodist Church.  Mr. French was also a member of New Prospect Community Club, Salvation Army, Relay for Life and God’s Store House.

Jack Cheatwood

Jack Cheatwood, age 60 of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee passed away Thursday, May 29, 2014 at Southern Tennessee Regional Health System Lawrenceburg after a extended illness. 

Mr. Cheatwood was a native of Lawrence County, TN., a United States Naval Veteran serving during the Vietnam Era, manager at WDXE Radio Station, and of the Baptist faith.


He was a former chairman for the board of the Lawrenceburg Utility Department, a board member at Lawrenceburg Federal Bank, former director of Lawrenceburg Main Street, a member of the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce. 

He was named citizen of the year in 1998.  He was one of the founders of the James D. Vaughn Museum and directed and organized the Main Street Heritage Festival for many years. 

He was a long time radio personality in Lawrence County at WDXE Radio Station.  Presenter of the J.D. Sumner award on television at the Southern Gospel Music Association Awards Banquet held in Gatlinburg, TN. 

He owned and operated Taylor Made Productions television network.  Namesake for the Lawrence County High School football stadium press box where he was the voice of the Wildcats for over 40 years.

Mr. Barturen was a member of Lawrenceburg Sacred Heart Catholic Church where he loved to sing in the choir and he had a wonderful voice.  He was also a member of Cuban American National Foundation.

   Mrs. Ellis is survived by son Stephen Ellis and wife Beth; daughter Shelley Ellis-Ferrell and husband Johnny; mother Ruth Rose; sister Carolyn Gist and husband Elton; five grandchildren; one niece; and two nephews.

   She was preceded in death by her husband David Lee Ellis; father Glyn Walters; son Jason Levi Ellis’ and sister Pamela Christian.

Charles Daniel Burnett, 73 of Greenhill, passed away May 1, 2014 at his residence.  He was a retired Machinist for General Motors and a member of Greenhill First Baptist Church.

Visitation will be Friday from 5pm to 8pm at Greenhill Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be Saturday at 1pm at the funeral home with Bro. Gregg Woodard officiating.  Burial will be in Liberty Grove Cemetery.

Johnny Timothy Ritter

Johnny Timothy “Tim” Ritter, age 54 of Lexington, Alabama passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at Huntsville Hospital after a sudden illness.  Mr. Ritter was a native of Lauderdale County, AL., a full time farmer, employed by TVA, a member of the Lauderdale Cattleman’s Association, a member of the Alabama Cattleman’s Association and a member of Lexington Church of Christ.

Funeral services will be held at 2pm Friday, May 2, 2014 at Loretto Memorial Chapel Inc. Danny Pettus will be officiating.  Burial will follow in Nebo Cemetery.

Visitation will be from  4pm to 8pm on Thursday, May 1, 2014 at Loretto Memorial Chapel Inc

The family would like to thank the rescue squad, AIREVAC, family, friends, the staff at Huntsville Hospital for all the kindness shown to us.  Tim was a loving husband and father and also a friend to everyone he met.  He will be greatly missed but never forgotten.

 

Marie Shelton Windham

Marie Shelton Windham, age 85 of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at NHC Healthcare of Hillview in Columbia, TN.  She was a native of Lawrence County, TN., retired from TN Shirt Works and a member of Pulaski Street Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Elizabeth Kilburn Shelton; two sons, David Windham and Ronald Windham ; and one grandson, Joey Hardiman.

She is survived by

Willie Wright

Willie Wright, age 85 passed away April 29, 2014 at Warwick Forest, Newport News, VA.  He was born July 3, 1928 in Lawrence County, Tennessee.

She was preceded in death by her husband Eldridge Wright, her parents, Lena Smith and Lonnie Graves, also her brothers, Andrew Graves, L.C. Graves, Edd Graves, Buddy Graves, Roy Graves, Bobby Graves and four sisters, Geneva Flatt, Ruby Alden, Okeleen Haines, and Lula Mae Rice.

Charles Edward Sandusky

Charles Edward Sandusky, age 87, of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee passed away Monday, April 28, 2014 at Wayne Medical Center in Waynesboro, TN.  He was a native of Lawrence County, TN., retired from Murray Ohio, a member of VFW Post 1618, D.A.V. and Good Hope Primitive Baptist Church.  Mr. Sandusky served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Hicks; his mother, Birdie Mae Felker Sandusky; and two sisters, Christine Trapp and Gladys Smith.

Herman Earl Dollar, age 66, of Ethridge, Tennessee passed away Monday, April 28, 2014.  He was a native of Lawrence County, TN., retired carpenter and a member of Brace Baptist Church.  Mr. Dollar served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Jewel Mayfield Dollar; and two brothers, Johnny Dollar and Andy Dollar.

Lester Lopp

Lester Lopp, age 68, of Lawrenceburg, TN passed away Sunday, April 27, 2014 at his residence. He was a native of Westpoint, TN, and of the Baptist faith.

HE was preceded in death by his parents, John Mitchell and Edna Irene Luna Lopp; his wife, Sondra Diane Lopp; and two brothers, Carl Lopp and Charles Lopp.

He is survived by three sons Dewayne & Shirley Lopp of Leoma, and Buck & April Lopp and Steve Dickson of Lawrenceburg; two daughters Charity Mendez and Stephanie and Daniel Vargas of Lawrenceburg; two brothers James Lopp of St. Joseph and Chester Lopp of Lawrenceburg; fourteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Barbara Nell Stephenson Gang

Barbara Nell Stephenson Gang, age 80, of Lawrenceburg died Sunday, April 27, 2014 at Maury Regional Medical Center. She was a homemaker and member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

She is survived by two sons, Mark (Kristy) Gang of Lawrenceburg, and William Trent (Terri) Gang of Ethridge; one daughter Tracey Grinnell of Lawrenceburg; one sister Perrie (Waylon) Wright of Florence, Alabama; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Barbara Gang was preceded in death by her husband William (Bill) Gang, Jr.; her parents Osa Leon Stephenson and Julia Susann Stephenson Griggs.

Funeral service will be Thursday, May 1, 2014 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m. with Father Joseph Mundakal officiating and interment in Calvary Cemetery in Lawrenceburg.

Visitation will be held at Pettus-Turnbo Chapel, Wednesday, April 30, 2014 from 4 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. and the Rosary at 7:30 p.m. by Father Joseph Mundakal.

 

Diane Brazier Pigg

Diane Brazier Pigg, age 59 of Smyrna, Tennessee passed away Saturday, April 26, 2014 at Alive Hospice Residence in Nashville, TN.  She was a native of Ohio and a member of Creekmont General Baptist Church in Murfreesboro, TN.

She was preceded in death by her parents, J.W. “Dub” and Marie Rochell Brazier; and one brother, Johnny Brazier.

Claude James Kirk, age 76 of Anderson, Alabama passed away Sunday, April 27, 2014 at NHC Brink after a extended illness.  Mr. Kirk was a native of Sheffield, AL., a United States Army veteran, retired machine operator from Champion Paper and a member of Corum Chapel Baptist Church.

Travis Hood, age 78 of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee passed away Friday, April 25, 2014 at UAB Hospital in Birmingham, AL.  He was a native of Lawrence County, TN., retired from Murray Ohio and a member of Meadow View Baptist Church.  He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mina and Pauline Nutt Hood; and two sisters, Willodean Gobble and Linda Bassham.

Wanda A. Moore, age 74 of Saint Joseph, Tennessee passed away Thursday, April 24, 2014 at Maury Regional Medical Center after an extended illness.  Mrs. Moore was a native of Lawrence County, TN., a seamstress and she was of the Freewill Baptist faith.  A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
