He was born in 1922 in Collinwood, Tennessee, the son of the late Neal Claud and Viola Morrison Jeter. He was preceded in death by a brother, Dr. James N. Jeter; a sister, Frances McDonnell; and a son Michael Jeter.
He graduated from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and then served as a Navy lieutenant in World War II. After the war he attended and graduated from the UT Dental School at Memphis. While there, he met his wife of 60 years, Virginia Raines. They married December 20, 1949 and returned to Lawrenceburg, his hometown since the age of 3. Dr. Jeter practiced general dentistry for almost 40 years.

George Delton Hulsey, age 93 of Florence died at the Florence Nursing and Rehab. He was a native of Anniston, Alabama, member of the Immanuel Baptist Church and VFW and Veteran of the U.S. Army during WWII.
He is survived by a friend, Ruth A. Draper of Madison, Tn. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Hulsey, one brother, Alton Hulsey and one sister, Ruby Cornelius.

Mr. and Mrs. Green established Green’s Furniture Store in Loretto in 1944 and Mr. Green operated various businesses in the Loretto area over the years. He loved to play his guitar with the Senior Citizen’s musicians, but his passion was painting.
The Green’s enjoyed traveling and have visited numerous countries around the world in the 69 years together. He was a life long member of Loretto United Methodist Church and was a Charter Member of the Loretto Lions Club.
Visitation will be Thursday, February 11, 2010 from 5-8pm at Loretto Memorial Chapel. Funeral will be Friday, February 12, 2010 at 1pm at Loretto United Methodist Church. Rev. Donald Spencer officiating.

She was educated at Cedar Crest College, Allentown, Pennsylvania, where she received her B.A., and at Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio, where she received her B.S. in Library Science. She was Head Librarian of the Lawrence County Library, a member of the Pilot Club and the Study Club.

Kenneth Deane Spaulding, age 87, of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, died Monday, January 25, 2010, at The Summitt of Lawrenceburg. Mr. Spaulding was a native of Indiana, a retired teacher and licensed pilot and an Air Force Veteran of World War II. He was a member of Seventh Day Adventist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine Henney Spaulding.

Thomas Michael Jent, 38, of Summertown, Tennessee died Sunday, December 27, 2009 at Maury Regional Medical Center after a hard fought battle with cancer. A native of Summertown, he was born on August 31, 1971. He graduated from Summertown High School in 1990 where he was a member of the band and lettered in baseball and basketball. After graduation he joined the United States Navy, serving as a corpsman for the Marine Corps and aboard the USS John F. Kennedy until it was decommissioned in 2007. He was a member of Summertown United Methodist Church.

Mary H. Buchanan age 96 of Lawrenceburg died at Countryside Health Care on Friday, December 25, 2009. She was a native of Lawrenceburg, a member of the Original Church of God and a retired cook from the Lawrence County School System.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was a registered nurse at Christus Schumpert Health System for many years before becoming Director of Nurses at Brentwood.

Viola Hagan Carpenter, age 92, of Lawrenceburg, died Thursday, December 17, 2009 at NHC Healthcare of Anderson in Anderson, S.C. She was the wife of the late Charles Edward Carpenter and was also preceded in death by her parents, Charles Morgan Hagan and Lula Russell Hagan. A native of Lawrence County, Tennessee, she was a Lawrence County school teacher for thirty two years. She was a member of the Lioness Club, Extension Homemakers, Lawrenceburg Chapter Order of Eastern Star, Daughters of the American Revolution, United Daughters of the Confederacy, Daughters of 1812, Lawrenceburg Historical Society and a yearly participant in Lawrenceburg’s Spirit of Santa breakfast.
Mrs. Carpenter was active in preserving the history of Lawrence County through her tireless work in the Lawrence County Archives, as well as her efforts in preserving many Lawrence County cemeteries. Mrs. Carpenter was the co-author with the late MaryMaud Killen Carter of “Our Hometown”, a book chronicling the history of Lawrenceburg. Mrs. Carpenter was added to the city’s “honor roll” in 1989. In 1990, she was Lawrenceburg Citizen of the Year and won the “Heart of Our City” award in 2005.
Mrs. Carpenter was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Lawrenceburg where she was involved in many of the church’s ministries, including teaching Sunday School and making many of the ornaments that still adorn the church’s Christmas trees. Mrs. Carpenter was a woman who truly loved God, her family and her hometown. She was a woman of great faith and kindness that was always willing to help another in need.

Barbara Evelyn Norwood, age 78 of Lawrenceburg, died Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at Crockett Hospital in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. A native of Giles County, she was a retired bookkeeper from Edwards Oil Company and a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.

Johnny Wayne Eledge, age 57 of Five Points, Tennessee, died Monday, November 23, 2009 at Crockett Hospital in Lawrenceburg. Mr. Eledge was an educator for the Lawrence County School System, a native of Auburndale, Fl., and a member of Leoma Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his son, Colby Eledge, his parents, John Tipton and Loretta Huntley Eledge and one sister Barbara Peppers.

Claude Hunter Garner, Age 75, Passed away October 29, 2009 at 9:30 pm at the VA Tvhcs York Medical Center in Murfreesboro, TN after an extended illness. He was a native of Lawrenceburg, TN, he was born November 17, 1933 at his grandparents home on Plummer Street Lawrenceburg, TN.
He was preceded in death by his parents : Bozzy Garner and Vada Martha Hunter. He joined the United States Air Force on his 17th birthday and transferred to the United States Army after 8 years of service, and then served 22 years in the United States Army. He retired from the United States Army after 30 total years of service as a Military Policeman (MP). He continued to work at Redstone Arsenal United States Army Base in Huntsville, AL as a civilian guard for many years. He devoted his entire life to the country that he loved so much.
He is survived by his Daughter Vada-Marie Garner, 30, of Lawrenceburg, TN,
One son John Christopher Garner, 28, of Lawrenceburg,TN.
He is also survived by two Grandchildren, Kenneth Alexander Garner, 9, of Lawrenceburg, TN, and Ava Star Garner, 3, of Lawrenceburg, TN.
A memorial service will be held on November 19, 2009 at 10:00 am at the chapel in the VA Tvhcs York Campus Medical Center in Murfreesboro, TN. There will also be a private internment and service, at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA for family. Arrangements handled by VA Tvhcs York Campus Medical Center, Music City Crematory, and Family.
