



Lady M. “Marcy” Gabel of St. Joseph, Tennessee passed away Friday, May 17, 2013 in Florence, Alabama at the age of 82. She was born June 30, 1930
“Marcy” Gabel grew up in the Mt. Nebo community, Lawrence County, TN. Early in her career, she worked for the Veterans Administration and then worked at the U.S. Army Missile Command in Huntsville, AL., for over 38 years. During this time she participated in professional associations including Business and Professional Women and the Toastmasters Club. She also enjoyed traveling to different countries. “Marcy” was a lifelong member of the Mt. Nebo Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Ms. Gabel was preceded in death by her mother, Mona Willa Morrison Gabel, her father, William Thomas Gabel; and sister, Hazel Gabel Moore.

David Howard Turnbow was born July 23, 1964 in Evergreen Park, Illinois. He died unexpectedly on May 3, 2013 in Apopka, Florida.
David will be remembered for his unlimited generosity in lending a helping hand to friends, family and strangers alike. He had an uncanny ability to access and solve any situation he was presented with. As a father, he encouraged and supported Keaton’s participation in many different sports and activities. They were currently working together to restore a ’74 Corvette and were very proud and excited with their accomplishment.
David was taught responsibility and an excellent work ethic from his parents and inherited a loving caring spirit from his wife and family.

He served the city of Lawrenceburg for over 25 years and was Mayor of Lawrenceburg from 1995- 1999. Mr. Ezell served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Augusta Ann Clark Mann, age 84 of Lawrenceburg, passed away Tuesday, April 30 at her home following a short illness.
She was born in Ethridge, TN., and was the daughter of the late Alma Hargett Clark and Edward Wilbur Clark and the widow of the late Eldred Lee Mann. She was preceded in death by her son, Thomas Edward Mann.
Mrs. Mann was a graduate of Ward Belmont and graduated from Auburn University in 1948. She and her husband owned and operated Lawrenceburg Steam Laundry and she later was employed at First National Bank.
A member of First Baptist Church, she enjoyed traveling, playing bridge, gardening and golf.

He was a native of Rogersville, AL., retired from Murray Ohio and a member of Leoma Church of Christ. Mr. Richardson served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He also retired from the Lawrence County School System as a bus driver, but above all his many accomplishments, he was first and foremost a man of God and a fantastic husband and father.

Mavis Glay Savage Sutherland, age 86 of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee passed away Monday, March 18, 2013 at Friendship Manor Nursing Home in Pewee Valley, KY. She was a native of Walworth County, WI., and worked at Madison College Hospital as a registered nurse.
Mavis was an avid church worker serving in various offices at the Seventh-day Adventist Church of Lawrenceburg. She served on several boards including the Highland Academy board for 16 years and the Conference Committee for 7 years. She also served on the K-12 Board, Local School Board Chairman for 7 years and the Harbert Hills Board from 1960 to the present. She was church clerk for at least 15 years, Pathfinder leader of nearly 20 years and Sabbath School Superintendent for nearly 40 years. She was president of the Madison College Alumni for three years and served on the Layman Foundation Board for a number of years.
Mavis was a member of the Flower Lovers Circle Garden Club and a member go the Daughter’s of the Union Veterans of the Civil War, a Lady of the Grand Army of the Republic and associated organizations.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Phillip Marion and Nona Ewers Savage, one son Corby Shaen Sutherland, one brother, Roy Savage, and three sisters; Phyllis Harris, Wanda Talmage and Iris Keairnes.

Charles Wesley Frogge, formerly of Lawrenceburg, died March 10, 2013, under the loving care of his
family and Hospice of Citrus County FL. One of seven children, Charles was born in Jamestown, Tenn.,
to the late Ocee and Gladys (Evans) Frogge.
Charles served our country in the United States Navy.
He was employed as an accountant at Kusan Inc. in Brentwood, Tenn.

He was a native of Davidson County, TN., a United States Army Veteran, worked at K-Mart in Florence, AL. for 32 ½ years where he retired at the Shipping Manager, co-owner of Carl’s Greenhouses in Greenhill, AL., along with his wife, Bertha for 30 years.

He was a native of Lawrenceburg and resident of the New Prospect Community, a retired carpenter from TVA and a member of VFW Post 1618 and Carpenters Union Local 1276 of Decatur, AL. He was a WWII Coast Guard Veteran and one of the last survivors of the USS Menges.

Hershel Leon Mobbs of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, recently of Florence, AL., died in Lawrenceburg on Monday, February 18, 2013 of complications from a stroke. He was 92.
A lifelong resident of North Alabama and Middle Tennessee, Mr. Mobbs was born in Marshall County, AL., on July 12, 1920 to the late J. Monroe Mobbs and Bessie Hipp Mobbs. He later moved to Lawrence County, TN. Where he met his future wife, Doris Davis. They married in 1943. He enlisted in the United States Navy that same year.
During World War ll, he served convoy duty in the Atlantic on U.S.S. Lee Fox (DE-65) and escort rescue duty on U.S.S. PCE ®-852 in the major naval engagements of the Pacific Island campaigns including the battles of Leyte Gulf, Lingayen Gulf and Okinawa. His decorations include the Navy Unit Commendation for the 852’s repeated combat rescues under enemy fire and kamikaze attack and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with Two Stars.
After the war, Mr. Mobbs returned to Lawrenceburg, TN. He soon moved with his wife and infant son to Florence, AL., where he lived the next 61 years. Throughout that time he was a member of the First Baptist Church of Florence, AL., where he served as a deacon for many years. He worked in the insurance and automobile industries, retiring from Ford Motor Co. after more than 20 years at its former Sheffield, AL. plant.
Mr. Mobbs was an avid gardener, a skilled woodworker, a beekeeper and an accomplished candy chef. He was known for his home made peanut brittle and the fine honey from his bees. In retirement, he donated many hand-crafted bird houses to public parks in Florence and the North Alabama region. As time passed, he often said he had out lived so many friends that he would just have to make new ones. He did exactly that until his final days, leaving behind friends of every age and generation.

She dedicated her time as a loving mother and set standards of excellence in nursing.

Helen Elizabeth Bradley Brewer was born on February 10, 1922 in Lawrence County, Tennessee to William Franklin Bradley and Lillie Louisa Clark Bradley.
She taught in Lawrence County schools for 21 years, 15 of which were at West Highland Elementary School.

Hattie Evers, age 101 of St. Joseph, Tennessee passed away, Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at NHC Brink after a brief illness. She was a native of Davidson County, TN., a homemaker and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
She was a life-long resident of St. Joseph, TN., and a communicant of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She served as the sacristan at St. Joseph Church until she retired at the age of 88. She had a great love and gift of raising all types of flowers, providing and arranging them for all the parish’s services. She worked for many years at the Rustic Park, now known as Miss Annie’s Restaurant in St. Joseph, TN. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, quilting, playing bingo and canasta with her friends in the Senior Citizens Group.
Funeral services will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Friday, January 4, 2013 at 11am with Father Tomy and Sammy Beckman officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

William Ray “Bill” Clark, age 65 of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee passed away Monday, December 31, 2012 at NHC Healthcare of Scott in Lawrenceburg, TN. After a courageous 2 ½ year battle with cancer. He was born March 25, 1947 in Indiana, PA., and grew up in Homer City, PA., where her attended grade school and graduated from Homer Center High School in 1965.

Visitation will be held at Pettus-Turnbo, Thursday, December 13, 2012 from 5pm to 8pm.
Funeral service will be held at Pettus-Turnbo Chapel, Friday, December 14, 2012 at 11am with Doug Payne officiating and interment in Houser Cemetery.
Pettus-Turnbo Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
Randall Brown, age 51 of Loretto, Tennessee passed away Sunday, December 9, 2012 at Crockett Hospital after a brief illness. He was a native of Lawrence County, TN.
Funeral services will be held at Loretto Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at 11am J.D. Bosheers will be officiating. Burial will follow in Loretto Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5pm to 8pm on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at Loretto Memorial Chapel.

Linda Hollis, age 69 of Columbia, Tennessee passed away Saturday, December 8, 2012 at Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia, TN. She was a native of Lawrence County, TN., retired from Dura Automotive and of the Christian faith. She was also a past member of the Lawrenceburg Rotary Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lincoln and Anibel Barnett Roberts; her husband, Earl Hollis; and one brother, Bobby Roberts.
She is survived by
