Mary Ruth Clark Hunt, age 80, of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, died Sunday, August 29, 2010 at Crockett Hospital in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee.  She was a native of Lawrence County, Tennessee, a homemaker and a member of First United Pentecostal Church.

Christine Pollock Long, age 96 of Lawrenceburg died August 29, 2010 at NHC Healthcare of Scott.  She was a native of Bruce, MS, homemaker and member of the Midway Church of Christ.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Romey Long; one grandchild, Kris Sanderson; one great-grandchild, Clinton Tucker; sister, Jewel Pollock; Robbie Gobble, brothers, Ted Harold Pollock, Malcolm Pollock, Fred Pollock; Ray Pollock, and a foster brother Enoch Knight.

Vernon Oran Keeton, age 77 of Henryville, Tennessee, died Sunday, August 29, 2010, at NHC Healthcare of Lawrenceburg.  He was a native of Lauderdale County, Alabama, retired from Murray Inc. after thirty nine years and was a licensed wellwater pump installer.  He was a member of Henryville United Methodist Church and he honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Carl Milton Parrish, Sr. age 81 of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, died Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee.  A native of Lawrence County, he was a retired pharmacist and member of the Lawrenceburg Golf and Country Club.  He served his country honorably in the U. S. Army.  He was also a member of First Baptist Church.

Leroy McDonald, age 92,  of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, died Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at Crockett Hospital in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee.  A native of Lauderdale County, Alabama, he was retired from Beuerlein Brothers and Sandy Lumber Company.  He was a member of Highland Park Baptist.

Rev. George Edward Ingram, age 57 of Lawrenceburg, died July 26, 2010 at St. Thomas Hospital.  He was a native of Lawrenceburg, was the Minister at the Cedar Springs Independent Fellowship Church.

Mary Tom Brecht, age 85 of Lawrenceburg, died Saturday morning, July 10, 2010 at NHC Lawrenceburg.  She was a native of Lawrenceburg, a homemaker, a lifetime auxiliary member of the VFW Post 1618 in Lawrenceburg and a member of Gandy Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Mary Kidd Jaco; two husbands Stephen Cousino and Roy Brecht; two sons Stephen Cousino and Roy Brecht; two brothers Charles, Roy Doyle Jaco.

She is survived by one son, Gerald Cousino of Cape Coral, FL; one daughter Joyce Laurell of Toledo, OH; tow sisters Roseanne Stenlund and Emma Donnally both of Lawrenceburg; three brothers William Jaco of Toledo, OH. And Raymond and Rex Jaco of Lawrenceburg; thirteen grand children; 24 great grandchildren; 11 great great grandchildren; and many many loving nieces and nephews.

Bobby Patton of Lawrenceburg died Saturday morning, July 10, 2010 at Middle Tennessee Medical center in Murfreesboro, TN.  He was a native of San Jose, CA. of the Holiness Faith and disabled.

He was preceded in death by his mother Immogean Stidman Patton and one brother Ricky Patton.

He is survived by his father, Robert Lee Patton and his step mother, Faye Patton; three sisters Betty Beasley of Leoma, Barbara Smith and Lanita Crowe both of Lawrenceburg; an Aunt Margie Shaffer of Lawrenceburg and many nieces and nephews.

Oscar Brown, age 98, of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, died Friday, July 9, 2010, at NHC Healthcare of Scott in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee.  He was a Baptist, a member of Masonic Lodge F&AM 460 in St. Louis, Missouri, and Lawrenceburg Golf and Country Club.  He was also a native of Leslie, Missouri, a World War II Marine veteran and a retired real estate agent.

“Hub” Brown, 88, of Fort Myers, FL died on Monday, July 5, 2010.  He was born in Florence, AL, moved to Fort Myers in 1956, was a Charter Member of the Russel Park Baptist Church, a longtime member of the Plumbers Local 630 and truly loved his profession.

Mary Adeline Austin

Mary Adeline Austin, 90 of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee traded this life for a better one on June 16, 2010 after an extended illness.  She had been a patient at NHC Scott Nursing Home in Lawrenceburg, since August 2007.  Prior to that she was a resident at The Summit Assisted Living in Lawrenceburg.

She was born in Colbert County, Alabama.  She graduated from Hazelwood High School, Leighton, AL in 1940.  She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, Lawrenceburg.  She sewed for the public for many years and was a homemaker and caregiver for her mother and brother until their deaths.  She retired from Crockett Hospital in 1989 where she worked in Dietary.

Miss Austin was preceded in death by her mother, Rosa B. Cannon Austin, Father, Luther Demarcus Austin, Sisters, Lillian Evans Mansfield, Killen, AL., Ola Pearl parker, Huntsville, AL., and brothers, Jesse Lee Austin, Lawrenceburg, TN., Howard Carter Austin, Huntsville, AL., and Arthur Olan Austin, Ragland, AL.

She is survived by sister, Maudie Jewel Harbin, Huntsville, AL.

She is lovingly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Thomas Vaughan Romer Lantz

Thomas Vaughan Romer Lantz, age 81, of Murfreesboro, Tennessee died June 12, 2010.  He was born Thomas Vaughan Lantz October 22, 1928 in Detroit, MI., to the late Joseph Angelo and Florence Josephine Walk Lantz, following her death Tom was adopted by Charles and Mary Romer, sister to Tom’s mother.

In 1946, at age 17, Tom enlisted in the then Army-Air Corp and was stationed at Orlando, FL. Where he met and married Ilan Hughes, mother of their five sons.  Over the next 23 years, Tom served his country proudly in the US Air Force during WWII, Korea and Vietnam.  He retired as a Master Sergeant in 1968.

Following retirement from the USAF, He graduated the University of North Alabama with a bacherlor’s degree in Education and a Master’s degree in Counseling.  He taught school and coached football  at E.O. Coffman Middle School in Lawrence County for seven years.  He served as Postmaster in Middleton and Smithville, TN until retirement in 1992.  After retiring from the US Postal Service, Tom served as a bus driver in Rutherford County.

He was a Master Mason and member of Masonic Lodge 77 in Smithville, TN

Martha Jane Rochelle, age 86, of Westpoint, Tennessee, died Thursday, June 10, 2010 at NHC Healthcare of Lawrenceburg.  She was a native of Lawrence County, Tennessee, retired from Murray, Inc. and was a member of the Pea Ridge F.C.E. Club, West End Volunteer Fire Department, and the Simms Ridge Church of Christ.  She was well known in the community for her pie baking.

Alonzo Judson Hester

Dr. Alonzo “Lonnie” Judson Hester, 69 of Cookeville died Saturday, May 29, 2010 at his home.  He was born April 1, 1941 in Leoma, Tennessee to the late Herschel and Julia Chambers Hester.  He received his BS Degree in 1963 from Tennessee Polytechnic Institute, his Master’s Degree from the University of Tennessee and his Ph.D. in plant genetics in 1970 from the University of Minnesota.  He worked as director of corn research for NC+ Hybrids in Hastings, NE for most of his career and prior to that he worked for Northrup King Seed Co. in York, NE and Goldsboro, NC.

He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather, an MG enthusiast, an avid gardener, and a beloved friend to all who knew him.

Zera Cates Davis, 91, died at her home at Country Cottage in Lawrenceburg, TN Wednesday, May 26, 2010.  She was a life long resident of Giles and Lawrence Counties.  Before becoming ill, she volunteered with Meals on Wheels at Lawrence County Senior Center and at Scott Hospital.

She is the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Void Cates.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Everett Davis and son, Joe Davis.

Elizabeth Adell Burns Bradley, age 84, died Sunday, May 16, 2010 at Alive Hospice at Saint Thomas in Nashville, Tennessee.  She was a Methodist, a Past Matron of Eastern Star and a member of Osceola Ladies of the Nobels.  She was the records and bookkeeper for Dr. Leo Harris, worked in the accounts payable for Yieldings Department Store in Birmingham, AL., and retired secretary for Murray Ohio for thirteen years.

Martha Virginia Bundrant Ray, age 65 of Lawrenceburg, died May 16, 2010 at St. Thomas Hospital after a sudden illness.  She was a member of the Green River Tabernacle.

Asberry Brian Jones

Asberry Brian Jones, 78, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2010.  He was born in Ethridge, Tennessee on February 14, 1932 to the late Van Thomas and Floy Brian Jones.  A.B. as he was known by his family and friends, was an avid naturalist and loved hiking and bird watching in his younger years.  He had a degree in mechanical and civil engineering from Vanderbilt University and patented several inventions during his lifetime.  He spent most of his career working in air and space design.  He was retired and spent his final years living in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Gloria Weathers Jones of Chesapeake, VA formerly of Lawrenceburg.

Cleo McCafferty, age 93, of Lexington, Alabama, died Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at ECM Hospital in Florence, Alabama.  He was a native of Lexington, Alabama, retired from Murray, Inc., a member of the First Baptist Church of Lexington, Alabama and the Lawrenceburg Masonic Lodge (Scottish Rite, Second Degree).  He served his country honorably during World War II in the US Army.

Linnie Roosevelt Shirley

   Mr. Linnie “Peanut” Roosevelt Shirley, age 79 of Summertown, TN, passed away Monday, May 10, 2010 at his residence.

  He was a native of Lawrence County, TN, a night watchman and self employed carpenter. He was preceded in death by his parents: Nathan Claude Shirley and Sarah Elizabeth Shirley.

  He is survived by his wife: Susan Eugenia “Jean” Shirley of Summertown, TN; two sons: Steve Shirley and Darrell Shirley, both of Summertown, TN; two daughters: Linda Tonguett and Charlotte Underwood, both of Summertown, TN; two sisters: Mae Carroll and Marie Clark, both of Summertown, TN; ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survive.

Fount MacDonald Webb

Fount MacDonald Webb, age 89 of Lewisburg, died Friday, April 30, 2010 in NHC Lewisburg.

Mr. Webb was a native of Lawrence County, Tennessee and was the son of Mansville and Maude Valentine Webb.  He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army.  He retired from the State of Tennessee in the Sales Tax Division.  He was a member of the Church of Christ and VFW.

Preceded in death by his wife, Chloe Maybelle Locke Webb in May of 1997; he is survived by a son, Roger Webb of Lewisburg, daughter, Diane Webb of Lawrenceburg, brother, Flint Webb of Hartsville, sister, Fae Williams of Lawrenceburg, and special friend, Betty Sutton of Lewisburg.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, May 3, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. from the chapel of London Funeral Home with burial to follow in Lone Oak Cemetery with military honors.

William Randall Roberson

William Randall “Randy” Roberson, age 55, of Loretto, Tennessee passed away Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at Maury Regional Hospital after a brief illness.  He was surrounded by his loved ones.  He was a native of Chattanooga, TN., a musician, and of the Church of Christ faith.  Randy was a well known entertainer.  He spent many years headlining at the famous Flora Bama on the gulf coast.  He was the consument entertainer whether it was a small gathering or on a stage with thousands adoring fans.  He loved life, his music and his family.  His wicked sense of humor and practical jokes preceded him wherever he went.  Randy graduated from Lawrence County High School in 1972 and married his high school sweetheart, Beth Papp.  He loved to write and make music with his guitar.  He often played with his partner in crime Larry Hartsfield.  He will be missed so much by all those whose life he touched.  Funeral services will be held at Loretto Memorial Chapel on Friday, April 23, 2010 at 1pm.  Burial will follow in Loretto Memorial Gardens.  Visitation will be from 5pm to 8pm on Thursday, April 22, 2010 at Loretto Memorial Chapel.

Edna Merle Blue Newell, age 90 of Summertown, Tennessee died Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at Hidden Acres Healthcare in Mount Pleasant, Tennessee.  She was a member of Barnesville Baptist Church, a native of Barnesville Community in Lawrence County, Tennessee and a homemaker.  Her parents were the late John F. and Lillian Pennington Blue.  She is preceded in death along with her parents, by her husband of 61 years, Troy L. Mary Dishongh Willis

Mary Dishongh Willis, age 100, of Lawrenceburg, died Friday, April 17, 2010 in Chesterfield, MO.  Beloved wife of the late Wylie R. Willis, mother of Susan Willis Phariss and mother in law of Glen A Phariss, grandmother of Martha Molander and Paula Phariss, great grandmother of Clare and Alma Molander, Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Horace Ozro and Maggie Dishongh, her sister Mattie Dishongh and brother Horace Rippy Dishongh.  She was Aunt Mary to Mary Bowles, Laura Beckhmam, Owene Ford, Peggy Lewis, Jim Jacobs and Walker McCutheon.  Mary was a friend to many and loved by all who knew her.

Mary married Wylie R. Willis on March 15, 1929.  Wylie taught in Lawrence County Schools and woned Willis Studio with his brother, Harry Willis from 1945 to 1974.

Mary graduated from Hay Long High School in Mt. Pleasant, TN in 1928 and received her Bachelor of Science degree from Middle Tennessee State Teacher’s College in Murfreesboro in 1937.  She taught in Lawrence County Schools fro 1928 to 1969, beginning at Hensley School, a one teacher school with six grades for one year, then Pleasant Point School for four years and West Point Junior High for six years.  She taught home economics and general science at Lawrence County High School for 25 years, and completed her career as lunchroom supervisor for n County Schools for two years, retiring in 1972.  From 1939 to 1941 (during WWII) she worked in an office and inspected parachute fabric at Patterson Field in Dayton, OH.

Mary was a member of First United Methodist Church and a faithful servant to our Lord Jesus Christ.  She taught Sunday School for many years and served on the building committee for the Christian Life Center.  She was a Daughter of the American Revolution, a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Delta Kappa Gamma, Pilot Club, Ro Ann Club, TN association for Family and Community Education and Lawrence County Retired Teachers.

Her loved ones, both family and friends, remember Mary as a wise and loving wife, mother and friend, continually devoted to nurturing their education and faith in Christ.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Christian Life Center at First United Methodist Church.

John Corbie “Sonny” Brown, died April 14, 2010 at E.C.M. Hospital after a brief illness.  He was 76 years young.  He was a lifetime resident of Loretto, TN.  He was retired from Murray Ohio, loved antique cars and he was our rock.  He will be greatly missed.  He was a loving husband, father and dado.

Lelas Dalton Macon Sr., age 84, of Summertown, Tennessee, died Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at his residence in Summertown, Tennessee.  He was a retired employee of CSX Railroad Birmingham Division, a native of Selma, AL, and was a member and Deacon of Summertown Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian Johnson Macon, parents, Ervin R. and Lola Henderson Macon, and three brothers, Billy, Richard and Jimmie Macon.

He is also survived by Dottie’s children and grandchildren.  During most of his career he was a store manager for the Kuhn’s Company, managing variety stores in several towns in Tennessee and Kentucky.  He moved to Louisville in 1971 to work for Dimeco and managed their stores on Outer Loop and at 4th and Oak Streets.  Later in his career he was a sales representative for Excel Home Fashions, traveling most of Kentucky, Southern Indiana and Ohio.

James Odell Tolle, age 78, of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, died Saturday, March 20, 2010, at his residence in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee.  He was a native of Lawrence County, Tennessee and self-employed.

He was preceded in death by his grandson, Stephen Scott Tolle and parents, Norman Odell and Maggie Sue Poag Tolle.

He is survived by his wife Anna Lynn Ray Tolle of Lawrenceburg.

James Riley Nabors, age 67 of Leoma, Tennessee, died Saturday, March 20, 2010, at his residence in Leoma, Tennessee.  He was a retired employee of Murray Inc., a native of Lawrence County, Tennessee and a member of Summertown Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Joyce Skimehorne Nabors of Leoma, Tn

Margueritte Clark Brown

Margueritte Clark Brown, age 97 of Lawrenceburg died March 18, 2010 at NHC Scott Healthcare.  She was a native of Hohenwald, Tn, retired from Salant & Salant Corp. and member of the First Street Church of Christ.

She is survived by one son, Bobby Brown and wife Lois of Lawrenceburg

John Thomas Cozart, age 69 of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee passed away Monday, March 15, 2010 at home after an extended illness.  He was a native of Lawrence County, Tennessee, retired from the City of Lawrenceburg, a member of Trinity Baptist Church.  Funeral services will be held at Loretto Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at 11am with Gary Crosby and Jesse Cozart officiating.  Burial will be in Mimosa Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5pm to 8pm on Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at Loretto Memorial Chapel.

David Lee Ellis, 57 of Loretto, passed away March 8, 2010 at St. Thomas Hospital of an extended illness. He was a Deputy Sgt. on the Lawrence County Sheriff's Department, a Christian, a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, and a memberr of Sons of American Legion.

Luther Coleman Frakes, age 86, of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, died Thursday, March 4, 2010, at NHC Healthcare of Scott in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee.  He was a native of Lawrence County, Tennessee, retired postmaster, a member of the Kiwanis Club, a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church.
