Decision To Reduce The Property Tax Rate

"I am proud the county commission did the right thing today by voting to lower the property tax rate by accepting the certified tax rate. The last thing any family needs now is another tax increase from the unfair property tax. Instead, they need economic growth and jobs.

That is why it is vital that the commission continues do everything in its power to spur growth in our local economy. This means we must continue to invest in our hometown businesses so they can expand and create new jobs.

We must also remain steadfast in recruiting industry to our county which will provide good paying jobs for our citizens.

Further, we must also continue to cut out any and all waste in our government and live within our means.

Finally, we must remain committed to being fiscally responsible and work to reduce our county's debt.

It is my hope my fellow commissioners join me in supporting these principles as each are key to growing our economy and moving our county forward. The people of Lawrence County deserve nothing less."
