Child rape suspect returned to Lawrenceburg, mother also arrested

Lawrenceburg Now

The mother of a sixteen month old boy who underwent surgeries after being sexually assaulted by his father last week, has been arrested.

Officials with the Lawrenceburg Police Department reported Monday that Danielle Faith Bowen was arrested on neglect charges for failing to obtain medical care for her son following the November 11th assault. Bowen was incarcerated at the Lawrence County Detention Center under a bond of $100,000.

Officials with the Lawrenceburg Police Department sought information from the public last week regarding the whereabouts of the child’s father, thirty-three year old Simon Dean Porter. They had been notified by a physician after the young boy was brought to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville for medical treatment for injuries sustained in the sexual assault.

The Scottsboro, Alabama Police Department reported the arrest of thirty-three year old Simon Dean Porter on Sunday. Porter was spotted by a passerby while walking along Alabama Highway 79. The passerby recognized him from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation's Top 10 Most Wanted List and quickly alerted authorities.

Porter was incarcerated at the Scottsboro City Jail but has now been returned to Lawrenceburg. He is presently incarcerated at the Lawrence County Detention Center on charges of aggravated rape of a child.
