Vacant Chamber Position Offered To Alabama Man

   Members of the Lawrence County Joint Economic and Community Development Board have voted to offer the position left vacant by the resignation of the former Executive Director of the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce, to Alabama resident Chad Chancellor.

   Members of the board have been working to identify a new Industrial Recruiter to fill the position, left vacant by the resignation of Randy Brewer. The board had hired Tom Ferguson, of Ferguson Development Network, to assist in the search.

   During the board’s meeting Thursday, board members voted unanimously to offer the position to Chancellor, 27, of Mobile, Alabama. Chancellor is a graduate of Mississippi State University and is the former chairman of the Waynesboro, Mississippi, Chamber of Commerce. He is currently serving as a project manager with the Mobile Chamber of Commerce.

   The board is offering Chancellor a three-year employment contract with a base salary of $75,000 to be paid bi-monthly, along with $25,000 to be paid quarterly. The second year, the contract calls for $80,000 to be paid bi-monthly with the remaining $20,000 to be paid quarterly, The third year of the contract calls for $85,000 bi-monthly, with $15,000 to be paid quarterly. (The base salary for Brewer was $65,000.)

   The contract calls for Chancellor to begin his local duties January 1, 2008.
