Chamber Working To Find Jobs For College Graduates In Lawrence County
Lawrenceburg, TN – October 20, 2009 – The Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce is compiling a list of jobs available in Lawrence County for college graduates of Lawrence County.
“I think it’s vitally important for us to recruit some of our college graduates back home to work after they go get their various college degrees,” said Chad Chancellor, CEO, Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce.
“We initiated a program to make our college graduates aware of opportunities in Lawrence County a year ago and have had just a touch of success but not the amount that satisfies us to this point.
We asked colleges in Tennessee and North Alabama to provide us with addresses of college graduates who are from Lawrence County, so we could actually mail them a list of opportunities, but due to various privacy laws the colleges have had a hard time providing us with what we need.
Instead, they asked us to post our jobs in their career centers but then our jobs go to everyone in college, and we really want to focus on first trying to recruit Lawrence County citizens back to Lawrence County.”
Currently, the Chamber is aware of openings in the following areas which require college degrees: Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Accounting, Business Management, Interior Design, Marketing, Insurance Production, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Customer Service, Criminal Justice, and Education.
Likewise, if you are a business owner or manager looking to hire an individual with a college degree, the Chamber needs to add your position their list of possible openings.
“We must get the word to those who want to work in Lawrence County that there are opportunities out there,” said Chancellor. “Please let your college educated loved ones who may be unemployed or living in other communities know about these opportunities.
If only one person gets a job due to these efforts our efforts will have been worthwhile. Our philosophy is every job is worth fighting for, but we need your help with the fight.”
