Parolee Arrested After Firearm Is Found In Home

A man who had been free on probation was arrested Monday after he was found to have a firearm inside of his home.

Probation officers requested the assistance of deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department at a home on Community Road at around 5:00 p.m.

They reported that during a home check they had found a sawed-off 20 gauge bolt action, single shot shotgun hidden inside an air vent.

They said that three shotgun shells were found with the firearm and that seventeen more were located inside the parolee’s truck.

Joseph Levi Methvin, age 29, was placed under arrest on charges of unlawful possession of a firearm and transported to the Lawrence County Detention Center without further incident.
