Merchandise Stolen From Fair Booths Recovered, Three Arrested
Lawrenceburg Now
Three local men were jailed Tuesday, charged with stealing several thousand dollars worth of merchandise from two booths at the Middle Tennessee District Fair.
Lawrenceburg Police Officers were called to investigate when a representative from the Top Gun Arms booth discovered that a laptop computer, knives, and some challenge coins went missing overnight Monday. He told officers that the items had a combined value of around $760.
A second vendor, representing Barber Cycle in Hohenwald, arrived Tuesday to find that numerous items of merchandise had been stolen. Missing items included backpacks, caps, shirts, hoodies, gear bags, sandals, beanies, drinks, Yetti cups, and sunglasses. Also missing were a GoPro Hero 4 camera along with loose change. He estimated that loss totaled $5,911.27.
Detectives with the department’s Criminal Investigation Division developed leads in the case. They made their way to a home situated at 103 Bluff Drive around 9:45 Tuesday evening. They report finding the stolen merchandise stored both inside the house and in an adjacent wooded area. Detectives were able to positively identify the items as those stolen from the fair booths.
In addition to the merchandise, detectives reported finding a SLS 7.62mm rifle that had been reported as stolen by the owner earlier that day. The victim reported the rifle had been stolen out of his 2007 Dodge Ram truck, parked in his driveway. The victim identified the rifle as being his stolen one.
As a result of the investigation charges of burglary and theft over $1,000 were issued against eighteen-year-old D’Andre Edward Nix of 1018 Roberts Avenue, Lawrenceburg and eighteen-year-old Trever Blake Curtis of 2023 Wayland Springs Road, Iron City. Both were incarcerated at the Lawrence County Detention Center, with bond set at $60,000 apiece. Also jailed was nineteen-year-old Bryan Chance Wilburn of 103-A Bluff Drive. Wilburn was charged with two counts of theft over $1,000, and two counts of burglary. His bond was set at $110,000.
All three men were scheduled an initial appearance in Lawrence County General Sessions Court on November 5, 2015.
Detectives noted that charges are pending in connection with the theft of the rifle.
