Owner Files Complaint Over Missing Dog

A dog owner filed a complaint with local law enforcement officials last week, indicating that his puppy had been taken from his yard and the individual who had it was attempting to collect a fee before returning it.

The victim reported to deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department that his brown beagle puppy had gone missing from his front yard on September 13. He said that the dog had been taken without his permission.

The victim said that he learned that the puppy was in the possession of another local resident. He told deputies that when he contacted the woman to get his dog back, she informed him that he would first have to pay a $75 vet bill.

She reportedly told him that the puppy had been taken from his property “because it had been ran over, had fleas, and was malnourished.”

The victim told deputies that he had contacted the veterinarian’s office and learned that the dog had been given a parvo vaccination, but that no other treatment had been rendered.

Investigation in the matter is continuing at the current time.
