Market Owner Reports Substantial Damage In Hit-And-Run
A local market owner reported substantial damage last week when the driver of a tractor trailer truck struck the diesel pumps, then fled.
The damages were reported at Handy Andy Market, located at 2410 Highway 43 North, on Saturday. The owner reported that an employee had noticed damage to the diesel pumps.
Closer inspection revealed that damage had been sustained to two diesel pumps, the island and concrete supports, and the canopy. Damages were assessed at $50,000.
Video surveillance showed that the driver had pulled up around 7:30 that morning, struck the pumps, then drove away.
The matter currently remains under investigation.
