Motorist Flees In Attempt To Avoid Arrest For Fifth Offense DUI

Law enforcement officers were kept busy for a time Friday night as they attempted to apprehend a driver who had fled in an attempt to avoid an arrest for fifth offense DUI.

Officers with the Lawrenceburg Police Department were dispatched to South Locust Avenue around 8:15 p.m. regarding a possible drunk driver armed with a firearm. Once he spotted police units, the driver, identified as Micky Lee Davis, 39, of Jackson Hollow Road in Goodsprings, began to flee.

Officers gave chase along Hood Lakes Road, then onto Rolling Circle. They report that Davis ran into a ditch, then fled a second time.

Approximately ¾ mile later officers report that Davis made an abrupt stop, exited the vehicle, then fled on foot into a wooded area. A perimeter was established and a search conducted of the vicinity.

Officers report finding Davis a short time later. They said that he was attempting to conceal himself by lying on the ground, next to a large log.

Reports show that Davis appeared to be intoxicated. He was reportedly irate, yelling at officers and making threats of bodily harm.

Officers indicate that when they checked Davis’s vehicle for other occupants they saw a loaded shotgun lying across the front passenger seat, along with a bottle of whiskey in the driver’s seat. A search warrant was obtained and the items seized into evidence.

Davis was transported to the Lawrence County Detention Center where he was jailed under charges that include fifth offense DUI, being a habitual motor vehicle offender, a felon in possession of a firearm, evading arrest, and driving on a revoked license. He was incarcerated without bond.

Davis was scheduled an initial appearance in General Sessions Court on October 2, 2014.
