Joint operation of area agencies results in meth bust, arrests

A joint operation undertaken by several area law enforcement agencies resulted in the discovery of methamphetamine and three arrests early Tuesday morning.Authorities report that agents with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department Narcotics Division, Wayne County Sheriff’s Department, 22nd Judicial District Drug Task Force, and the Lauderdale County, AL Drug Task Force participated in the operation. Agents executed a search warrant at a home situated at 5519 Wilson Road in Iron City in the early morning hours.

During the ensuring search, agents seized around .25 ounce of methamphetamine along with various items of drug paraphernalia and $945 believed to be the proceeds of illegal drug sales. Marvin David Cox, age 39, who resides at the home, was arrested on charges of possession of Schedule II narcotics for the purpose of resale.

Two other individuals, Gary Green, 29, of 2971 Country Road 273, Florence, AL and Anna Jackson, 34, of 604 Stewart Street, Tuscumbia, AL, were arrested on outstanding warrants. The case currently remains under investigation.
