Lost Wallet Solves Lincoln County Crime, Leads To Arrest

A lost wallet found at a Lawrenceburg restaurant led authorities to solve a crime that had occurred in Lincoln County and arrest a man wanted in Alabama.

Lawrenceburg Police Chief Judy Moore said Tuesday that the wallet was found at McDonald’s on North Locust Avenue Monday. She reports, “Detectives discovered that one of the driver’s licenses found inside the wallet was stolen from a vehicle in Lincoln County.”

Department detectives were able to determine that the subject who had been in possession of the wallet was staying at 1065 Waynesboro Highway. They responded to the address and spoke with Jeffrey Dale Mason, age 46.

Mason was wanted for a parole violation in Montgomery, Alabama. He was incarcerated at the Lawrence County Detention Center on that charge and awaited extradition.

Moore said that information in the case was shared with Lincoln County authorities.
