Arrestee Tries To Swallow Drugs

A man who was being arrested on an outstanding warrant Friday gained more charges after he attempted to swallow evidence, then damaged a patrol car while scuffling with a deputy.

According to reports filed through the Lawrence County Sheriff's Department he deputy had gone to the 1080 North Brace Road, Summertown home of Jason Walton Glass, age 30, to serve a violation of probation warrant.

When they made contact with Glass the deputy explained that he was being arrested on the warrant. He said he had him place his hands on the patrol car so that he could frisk him for weapons when he says Glass, "put his hands into his pants and had an object in his fist."

The deputy ordered Glass to open his fist, but says instead that he, "pulled away and tried to put the object in his mouth." He reports that Glass was taken to the ground where he, "tried to pull away and swallow the object."

The deputy found that Glass was attempting to swallow one gram of methamphetamine. He reports that his patrol car sustained about $1,000 in damage when his back fender was dented during the scuffle.

Glass was arrested and transported to the Lawrence County Detention Center where he was booked on charges that include resisting arrest, tampering with evidence, vandalism to county property, and possession of a Schedule II controlled substance.
