Lawrenceburg Man Confesses To Burglarizing Two Businesses

A Lawrenceburg man was arrested last week after he reportedly confessed to burglarizing two businesses inside the city.

Lucas Caleb Martin, age 35, of 415 Fourth Street, was incarcerated at the Lawrence County Detention Center on charges that include two counts of burglary, two counts of vandalism, two counts of theft, and filing a false police report.

Reports show that Martin was interviewed by officers while they were investigating burglaries that had occurred at Green’s Home Center, located on First Street, on August 26 and Performance Motors, on Third Street, on August 26.

After obtaining consent to search his property, they report finding several items that linked him to the Green’s Home Center burglary.

When Martin was questioned about the items, officers report that he confessed to having committed the crime as well as the burglary at Performance Motors and several recent automobile burglaries.

Prior to the confession Martin had filed a false police report indicating that his bicycle had been stolen. Reports show that Martin admitted he had abandoned his bicycle during the Performance Motors burglary, “When he got scared and ran away.”

Officers report that during the investigation they were able to recover thirty-one items that had been reported stolen.

Martin has been scheduled an initial appearance in Lawrence County General Sessions Court on October 2, 2014.
