Kentucky Man Is Charged With DUI After Crash With Local Resident

A Kentucky man was incarcerated last week after he had reportedly become involved in a crash with a local resident on North Locust Avenue.

Reports filed through the Lawrenceburg Police Department show that the crash occurred in the turning lane at the Mattoxtown Road intersection.

The investigating officer reports that when he approached those involved he immediately noticed that driver Bobby Aaron Roberts, Jr., 56, of Louisville, Kentucky, smelled strongly of alcohol.

Roberts submitted to field sobriety tests and the officer reports that his performance was unsatisfactory. At that point he was placed under arrest on first offense DUI.

He informed the officer that he had a .38 special in the console of his car. The officer located the gun, which was fully loaded, along with five extra rounds of ammunition.

He also found a drink in the cup holder that bore a heavy odor of alcohol and a near-empty bottle of whiskey on the floorboard.

Roberts was transported for a blood alcohol test, then to the Lawrence County Detention Center. He was jailed under charges of first offense DUI and possession of a firearm while under the influence.

Additionally, he was issued citations on charges of violation of the open container law, failure to exhibit due care, and failure to provide proof of insurance.

Roberts is slated to answer the charges in General Sessions Court on October 3, 2014.
